At Ithaca Creek, students have a number of opportunities to participate in sporting activities to complement weekly Health and Physical Education classes, in which students will learn swimming, athletics, ball skills and health.
In Semester 1, year 5 and 6 students select from a variety of activities as part of the Interschool sport program. Students may choose between netball, soccer, touch football and orienteering and travel to other local schools and venues to compete in organised fixtures. In semester 2, the year 5 and 6 students as well as our year 4's will participate in 2 gala days, which offer a larger selection of available sports to try, such as futsal, AFL, NFL Flag, Cricket, among others. The Friday sport program provides an opportunity for students to try a new sport or activity that interests them, with a focus on participation, sportsmanship and fun. Regardless of skill or experience, there is something for everyone.
Further to this, we encourage our more elite 10 -12 year old athletes to seek additional opportunities through the Queensland School Sports Representative Program. Throughout the year, NorthWest district trials are held across a range of team and individual sports. Students and parents are notified of these trial dates through daily notices, student emails, school newsletter and the list of the trial dates can always be found here on the school website. Importantly, these district trials are highly competitive and only for students who have extensive experience in their sport outside of school. If selected in a district team, students then have the opportunity to display their talent at the regional, state and national level.
Several additional sporting activities will be offered to our upper year students such as Ithaca Creek Futsal and our inaugural 3 Pin Dodgeball tournament.
